About

Welcome to the Labor Pains blog, the digital home for an oral history thourgh body-mapping project dedicated to amplifying the labor experiences of Black women. This space chronicles our events and activities in Albany and Oakland, shares reflections on the stories being gathered, and follows the path toward building a powerful community archive. The project culminates in performances and pop up exhibits at the Underground Railroad Education Center in Albany NY and the West Oakland Mural Project in Oakland CA in the summer of 2026. It is our way of telling our story of America 250.
